Sport & Exercise Psychology

As both a Chartered Sport & Exercise Psychologist (HCPC) and a CBT Therapist (BABCP), I help athletes of all levels- from developing juniors to seasoned professionals-unlock their mental potential and enjoy their sport more.

You don’t need to be an elite athlete to benefit. Whether you’re returning from injury, struggling with confidence, or simply want to rediscover your motivation, I can support you in achieving your goals.

How It Works

Our first step is a needs analysis meeting, where we explore:

  • Current challenges or barriers
  • Strengths and potential areas for growth
  • Your personal or performance goals

From there, I’ll design a tailored programme using evidence-based techniques that may include goal setting, imagery and visualisation, self-talk management, and attention control.

Where appropriate, sessions can take place at your training environment or competiton venue, allowing for real-time feedback and applied practice

Common Focus Areas

  • Motivation and Confidence Building
  • Dealing with injuries & Setbacks
  • Managing Performance Anxiety or “The Yips”
  • Handling Pressure and Negative Self-Talk
  • Improving Focus, Attention, and Decision-Making
  • Team & Group Dynamics
  • Transitioning Out of Sport/ Retirement
  • Coaching Education and Support

Clinical Support for Athletes

Because of my additional clinical training, I can also help athletes who experience deeper difficulties alongside performance issues, including:

  • Depression or persistent low mood
  • Obsessions or compulsive behaviours
  • Exercise addiction or overtraining
  • Body image concerns

This combination of clinical and performance expertise allows for a truly holistic approach- addressing both the mindset for performance and the mental health behind it.

Exercise Psychology

For clients who aren’t athletes but want to increase activity or adopt a healthier lifestyle, I use behavioural approaches such as Behavioural Activation to help you build sustainable exercise habits and overcome barriers to change.
